welcome to my blog.
I’m Louise, President of the Students’ Union at Bournemouth University (SUBU) for the next year. My job is quite complex really - definitely not one I can sum up in a few words - but my main priority of course is to be there for the students at BU; to represent them and their views at all levels of the University in a whole different range of meetings and committees, (particularly at the University governing board level as I am the only officer who sits on the board), to be the point of contact between our students and the local community and to improve that relationship, to make sure you’re getting a good deal while you’re here, to work on any projects that come up throughout that year to improve the experience of all of our students…the list goes on.
when it comes down to it though, I’m here to be someone you all know and recognise as one of the people you can come to about anything you have an issue with, that you want to comment on or praise, or complain about.
The Students’ Union is a separate organisation from the University, and as a result, means we have no problem with questioning BU on the things they do and telling them when we don’t think something is good enough, or when they’re not quite getting it right. Despite this, we have a great working relationship with the University, and this helps us to make good things happen for you all - they respect our views and genuinely do listen to what we say, so if you want to get something done or want BU to know something, do tell us! you’d be surprised at the changes it could make.
